Government has earmarked 67 percent of the Lands Commission’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to fund a national digitalization project aimed at modernizing Ghana’s land administration system.
Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, disclosed this during a press briefing on reforms being implemented within the sector.
The project forms part of a broader initiative to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in land transactions.
According to the Deputy Minister, the Ministry has secured full retention of the Lands Commission’s internally generated funds to support the initiative.
“To support the implementation of this initiative, the Ministry has secured 100 percent retention of the Lands Commission’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF),” he stated.
“Out of this amount, 67 percent has been earmarked to fund the national digitalization project, which will significantly transform the delivery of land services across the country.”
He explained that the digitalization project will help reduce human interference in land transactions and improve record management nationwide.
“This major reform is intended to modernize land administration processes, drastically reduce human interference, and promote greater transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the management of land records and transactions,” he added.
Government says the project will significantly improve the delivery of land services and strengthen governance in the sector.
