The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has paid a courtesy call on the King and Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, Ya-Na Abukari II, at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi as part of preparations for its upcoming Quadrennial Delegates’ Conference.

The conference is scheduled to take place at University for Development Studies in Tamale from August 24 to 28, 2026, and is expected to attract high-profile dignitaries, including the President of Ghana and the Chief Justice.

Addressing the Ya-Na, JUSAG National President, Samuel Afotey Otu, explained that the visit was in line with custom and tradition; to formally inform the overlord of the conference, seek his blessings, and extend an invitation to the opening ceremony scheduled for August 25.

Beyond the palace visit, the delegation engaged key stakeholders in Yendi, including staff of the Circuit Court, the Municipal Police Commander, and the Municipal Chief Executive. During these interactions, JUSAG disclosed that a temporary judge has been assigned to the Yendi Circuit Court pending the recruitment and posting of a permanent judicial officer.

As part of the visit, JUSAG donated GHS 10,000 towards the construction of a new Gbewaa Palace, a project described as befitting the status of the Ya-Na and the heritage of the Dagbon Kingdom. The Palace, in return, presented members of the delegation; including General Secretary Abdulai Yakubu, with traditional Dagbon smocks and cloth.

The delegation was also taken on a tour of the new palace construction site, which is reported to be at an advanced stage, with architectural elements reflecting Dagbon culture and traditions. The inspection was led by selected elders of the palace, the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, and officials of the Concerned Citizens of Yendi.

The visit, which took place on April 14, 2026, was led by Mr. Afotey Otu, who also serves as a member of the Judicial Council. Other members of the delegation included Deputy General Secretary Madam Joyce Assan, Madam Grace Brown, and regional officials from the Northern, Upper West, Upper East, and North-East regions.
