The Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, says applications for medical support under the programme will be handled entirely through a digital system, ruling out walk-in requests at the Secretariat.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, May 11, she stressed that the support process has been designed to ensure transparency, efficiency and dignity for applicants.
“No one can walk directly to the Secretariat to request for support; the process is digital and dignified,” she stated.
According to her, applicants seeking assistance under the MahamaCares programme must meet three key eligibility requirements. Beneficiaries must be Ghanaian citizens, possess an active Ghana Card, and have a medical condition covered under the fund.
Mrs. Darko-Opoku also announced that the patient support programme will initially be delivered through 29 enlisted hospitals strategically spread across the country to ensure equitable access.
The selected facilities include major hospitals such as Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and Tamale Teaching Hospital.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund programme is aimed at improving access to healthcare support for eligible Ghanaians across the country.
