The National Executive Director of the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah, says the Ministry of Education is set to release over 50,000 professional teachers to various private schools to help address teacher deficits and improve the quality of education in the sector.
Speaking to Isaac Addae on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah said the council is finalising an arrangement with the Ministry of Education to bring the professional teachers into private schools.
“We have teacher deficits in our private education space, and our mandate as council is to also ensure that the quality education that we deliver is coming from professional teachers.”
He said the arrangement is part of efforts to resolve the shortage of professional teachers in private schools.
“We are finalizing an arrangement with the Ministry of Education where the ministry is set to release over 50,000 teachers who are professional teachers to various private schools to support deliver quality education in this regard.”
Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah said full details of the arrangement will be made public on Friday, September 4, after the council concludes its engagements with the Ministry of Education.
“We will share the details with you probably by tomorrow. We will be finalizing most of the engagement by tomorrow, and then we can share most of the details.”
He added that the move is expected to give private education a major boost in terms of quality once the professional teachers are brought into the sector.
“We can hint the public that private education is going to receive massive boost in terms of quality education once we receive these professional teachers in our sector.” he said
