Ghana has achieved full nationwide coverage for passport services, with operational Passport Application Centres now established in all 16 regions.
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, confirmed the milestone in a post on X on Tuesday, December 30, saying, “We made it! All 16 Regions of Ghana finally have their Passport Application Centres.”
He added that Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson, will commission the centres in Ahafo, Bono East, and Western North, while he himself will commission those in North East and Savannah, following the successful inauguration of the Oti centre.
Ablakwa described the achievement as part of President John Mahama’s development agenda, stating, “President Mahama’s Reset Agenda is Real. We leaving no region behind. For God and Country.”
The nationwide rollout of passport centres is expected to streamline application processes, reduce travel for applicants, and improve citizen access to essential travel documents.
Notably, on Monday, December 29, Ablakwa commissioned the Dambai Passport Application Centre in the Oti Region, ending years of costly and time-consuming travel for residents seeking passport services.
