Some members of Dressers International, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) on Thursday organized an orientation workshop for women groups in Ashanti

The rationale for the orientation was to instill in women groups including hairdressers and dressmakers the spirit of participation in local as well as national politics.

The NGO before Thursday’s engagement has held similar of the engagements in other parts of Ghana.

A member of the group Kwabena Agyeman said the group was committed to instilling the desire to be part of the political discourse of the country.

Speaking to this reporter, Philipa Ansong, Member of the NGO said her decision to be part of Dressers International was borne out of the love she had for women leadership.

She noted that the current Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Osei Opare inspires her to do what she does best.

Miss Ansong revealed that Chief of Staff possesses attributes that excites.
She noted being the first ever Chief of Staff, Madam Frema shows profuse energy and shows activism despite her age.

“Madam Frema is found everywhere in Ghana and shows interest in youth development and employment and for some of us we are inspired to do what we do because of her passion for the country”, Miss Ansong stated.

Gloria Ofori, a hair dresser and participant said her interests in politics had shot up after listening to the Dressers International Group.

She noted that many personalities especially women who have broken through politics encourage her to become active from now.

Kate Ampofo, a fashion designer said that after listening to the academic background of the current Chief of Staff and the international experiences and exposure she has, she was challenged to pursue education and to become like Madam Frema Opare.

“For me, I have been blown away by the exploits of women in politics and to learn of the philanthropic work, youth empowerment and employment initiatives of Madam Frema Osei Opare pushes me to aim high in life”, Miss Ampofo stated.
