The First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Takoradi constituency, Justice Maxwell Acquah, has expressed confidence that the NPP will retain the Takoradi constituency seat in the upcoming general elections.
According to him, the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament (MP), Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, along with the 2024 candidate of the party, will ensure that the NPP retains the seat in this year’s general elections. He stated, “The NPP’s victory in the upcoming elections in the Takoradi constituency is certain. However, the NPP will not be complacent until the battle is won.”
Mr. Acquah, also known as Chairman Basty, was speaking to the media in Takoradi about various developmental projects executed by the MP within the metropolis and in response to a recent poll by Global Info Analytics, which placed the NDC candidate, Lawyer Frederick Faidoo, in a strong lead to win the seat. Mr. Acquah highlighted that the MP has inaugurated a 60-bed health facility in New Takoradi to ensure effective healthcare delivery.
He noted, “The Sekondi-Takoradi road expansion project is ongoing, and the stretch from Kwame Nkrumah Roundabout through to the Beach Road Roundabout is almost completed.”
Mr. Acquah also mentioned the GNPC Energy House, a seven-storey building located on an 11,680m² land area in Takoradi. The facility includes a 300-seater auditorium, cafeteria, gymnasium, business center, and private office spaces for lease. It is designed with solar ingress and wind direction features in compliance with the government’s policy on smart energy efficiency.
He emphasized that the Takoradi constituency branch of the NPP would continue to remind voters of the party’s achievements to secure a renewal of its mandate for another four years. “The people of Takoradi have consistently supported the NPP due to the positive impact of the party’s work,” he said.
“Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has been winning in the constituency, including in the stronghold of the NDC candidate, New Takoradi, due to the development projects initiated by the NPP government,” he added.
He also pointed out that the participation of over 20,000 residents in a recent health walk organized by the party before the NPP’s Manifesto Launch in Takoradi demonstrates solid support on the ground.
Mr. Acquah concluded, “We still have to work hard and continue reminding people of the good work of the NPP to ensure the party’s resounding victory in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.”
In an interview on Radio 360’s morning show, “Y3nsom,” the five-term MP dismissed the polls, stating that such surveys are common before elections and that similar predictions were made in 2016 and 2020, which did not materialize.
