Member of Parliament for the Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has revived and pledged to complete the long-abandoned Nuba Kindergarten classroom block project within two months.

The project, which was initiated by the community’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), had remained abandoned for more than six years before the intervention of the MP, who is also the Deputy Minister for Transport.

Beyond completing the classroom block, the upgraded project will include additional educational facilities such as washrooms, electricity extension, ceiling fans, a flat-screen television, and other teaching and learning resources that were not part of the original community initiative.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Jomoro, Benedict Boadi, announced this during an inspection tour of the project site alongside the contractor and the municipal engineer on behalf of Madam Affo-Toffey, who is currently on official assignment in China.

According to the MCE, the intervention by the MP has restored hope to the community after years of delay.

“The long-abandoned Nuba Kindergarten classroom block project, which was initiated by the community PTA and left uncompleted for over six years, has officially been revived through the intervention of Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Minister for Transport,” he stated.

He further explained that the MP had secured a new contractor to ensure the project is completed within the agreed two-month period.

“Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey has successfully secured a new contractor to continue and complete the abandoned project within two months, in accordance with the terms of the contract agreement,” the MCE added.

The completion and modernisation of the facility is expected to improve access to quality early childhood education for children in Nuba and surrounding communities while creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the Nuba Electoral Area, Ghanaman, expressed appreciation to both the MP and the MCE for the intervention.

“For over eight years, this important project has remained uncompleted, causing great concern to my community. Today, through your dedication, commitment and love for the development of education in Nuba, hope has been restored to our children and the entire community,” he said.

He also commended the inclusion of additional facilities such as washrooms, electricity extension, ceiling fans, and modern teaching equipment, describing them as evidence of the leadership’s commitment to the welfare and future of children in the area.

The assembly member further prayed for continued strength and guidance for the MP and the MCE as they continue to champion development projects across the municipality.
