The Akosombo Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Doris Grant, has been adjudged the Best Female Police Officer at the 2026 Eastern Region edition of the Heroes Conference.
The prestigious event was held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Centre for National Culture in Koforidua, where her outstanding contributions to community policing and social intervention earned her the recognition.
Chief Supt. Doris Grant has distinguished herself through exceptional leadership and dedication to service since her transfer to the Eastern Region some years ago, initially serving as the Odumase-Krobo District Police Commander.
During her tenure at Odumase-Krobo, she introduced a unique community policing strategy that won admiration from stakeholders across the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
Beside security interventions, the Police Commander embarked on communitu empowerment drive.
She established Girl Child Support Programme aimed at empowering young girls in basic and senior high schools to remain focused on their education and personal development.
Through collaborations with some non-governmental organisations, she also mobilised and distributed sanitary pads to several schoolgirls, helping to restore confidence and dignity among beneficiaries.
Chief Supt. Doris Grant further spearheaded educational outreach programmes in schools where students were sensitised on domestic violence, sexual abuse, cybercrime, drug abuse and other social vices.

Following her promotion to Akosombo Divisional Police Commander, with oversight responsibility for several districts, she has continued to impact lives positively through dedicated service and proactive policing.
Her community engagement efforts have extended to rural communities within the Asuogyaman District, where she has worked closely with officers from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) to educate students and residents on crime prevention and social issues.
During recent outreach programmes in some rural schools, teaching and learning materials were also distributed to support pupils academically.
Chief Supt. Doris Grant has also been actively involved in road safety campaigns alongside officers of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), earning the admiration of drivers, riders and community members across the division.
Her achievements and commitment to humanity and the Ghana Police Service have been widely described as deserving of the honour.
The award recognises her sacrifices, dedication and remarkable contributions to policing and community development in the Eastern Region.
