Former Ghana Football Association president Kwasi Nyantakyi has expressed confidence in the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, urging Ghanaians to throw their full support behind the national team as preparations intensify for the tournament.
Nyantakyi, who spoke to the media during his foundation’s friendly game involving inmates of the Nsawam Prison and former Black Stars players, said the senior national team should not be underestimated despite recent criticism and inconsistent performances. According to him, the Black Stars still possess the quality and experience needed to make a strong impact on football’s biggest stage.
The former FA boss added that national support would play a crucial role in boosting the confidence of the players and technical team as Ghana eyes a successful campaign at the Mundial. He stressed that unity among fans, stakeholders and the football fraternity would be key to helping the team achieve its objectives at the tournament.
Meanwhile, former Black Stars attacker Godwin Attram has challenged the newly invited players under coach Carlos Queiroz to impress in Ghana’s upcoming international friendly against Mexico national football team. Attram believes the performance of the players will be more important than the final scoreline as the team continues to build towards the World Cup.
The former Accra Great Olympics F.C. forward also expressed optimism about the future of the Black Stars under Queiroz, insisting the experienced coach has the ability to build a competitive side capable of excelling at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
