Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has revealed that figures making the rounds on social media and news portals regarding the proceeds from Ghana’s World Cup qualifier against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium are false and not from his outfit.
In the early hours of Wednesday, news circulated on social media quoting GHC 3,000 and other figures as profit made from the sale of tickets for the Black Stars game.
However, in a quick response, the renowned journalist and newly appointed Director General of the NSA, who was speaking exclusively to EIB SPORTS at the staff durbar of the Authority on Wednesday afternoon, said the reports rather surprised him because he is yet to receive the full and final documents of the match from the Authority’s Chief Accountant.
“I have not even been given the transcripts, so it’s very surprising. I just had a meeting with the Chief Accountant, and he hasn’t released any information. But you should understand that people want headlines and news,” Mr. Ankrah said in his initial comments.
He, however, promised to make the accounts public as soon as the Chief Accountant submits the full report to him.
