The Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) has ordered the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Justin Kodua Frimpong by Otumfuo Saamanhene to report to Manhyia Palace with Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi the Ashanti regional Chairman of the party.

The invitation from the Manhyia follows an alleged statement Chairman Wontumi made at the NPP’s Ashanti regional parliamentary primaries vetting during a confrontation between Manhyia South Constituency Organizer, Alhaji Abuba.

After the vetting of the Energy Minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh confusion allegedly ensued between the Manhyia South Constituency Organizer and Chairman Wontumi over Wontumi’s failure to share testimony about the Manhyia South Member of Parliament’s contribution to the party’s internal and external activities.

In the heated argument which brought the vetting to a halt for about 30 minutes the outspoken NPP Chairman allegedly told the Otumfuo’s Brempon Nana Kwaku Duah who is Chief of Kokoso that he Wontumi has created his Kingdom in Ashanti.

He was alleged to have stated in public that he would challenge Otumfuo if he (Wontumi) disagreed on an issue with the Asante King.

According to Nana Kwaku Dua, Wontumi stated that “I have built my own kingdom, I have my own police and military, and I will speak my mind to Otumfuo if I disagree on an issue with him (Otumfuo)”.

A day after the alleged unfortunate incident occurred, Bernard Antwi Boasiako in a voice audio denied challenging Otumfuo’s authority with claims he has built his kingdom in the Ashanti region and will challenge Otumfuo any day he disagrees with him on an issue.

Speaking in an interview with Kojo Marfo on Abussua 96.5FM in Kumasi on Monday 15th January 2024 Otumfuo Prempon Nana Kwadua, Kokosohene disclosed the general secretary of the New Patriotic Party Justin Kodua Frimoing has confirmed that Manhyia Palace has summon him to report to Manhyia with  Chairman Wontumi over the issue.

“After I brief Otumfuo Saamanhene upon his invitation over the issue. The general secretary of the party informed me that he has been directed to report to Manhyia Palace with Wontumi’’ he said.

Further Checks from the office of Chairman Wontumi disclosed their Boss is out of the country receiving medical attention in China. It is, however, not clear when he will arrive in the country.

Meanwhile, the governing New Patriotic Party National executives are planning to meet Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in person to have the matter either true or false to be resolved.
