Kojo Spio teams up with Oxlade on a new summer anthem ‘Emiko’

London-based multidisciplinary and music executive KJ Spio, has linked up with one of African’s hit-maker Oxlade for his latest track, “Emiko”.

Posing as his first release of 2025, “Emiko” comes fresh off collaborations with Gyakie, Konshens, Sarkodie, Ambré, Harmonize, Libianca, and many more.

Accumulating praise for being one of the many names changing the trajectory of Afrobeats, the likes of COLORS, Ones To Watch, GRM Daily, Notion, New Wave Magazine, Ministry of Sound and more, have shown their support.

On a mission to shed light on Ghana’s heritage, Oxlade glazes the production, courtesy of acclaimed producer BlaiseBeatz [Chris Brown, WizKid, Asake, Davido, Adekunle Gold, Omay Lay, & more] with his infectious melodies and silk-like tone.

The track’s appeal is in the meaning behind the song, believing all things are possible, overcoming obstacles and nay sayers.

KJ Spio and Oxlade take to the historic landmark Cape Ghost Castle, one of the largest buildings that holds the legacy of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Opening the music video sat at the top of the castle, Oxalde and KJ Spio exchange words, “This is where they had our four fathers underneath the castle bro. Now look at us, two kings out here making beautiful art” before unravelling the vibrant sounds of “Emiko”.

Capturing the beauty of Ghanaian women throughout and styling the women in IMPARI’s ONT_KOP clothing collection that ‘reflects the growing divide between humanity and the Earth’, showcases the women of Ghanaian culture in a beautiful light with a Goddess like presence to them.

When asked about the release KJ Spio explained, “The song is about believing in all things being possible through God. Ox. Emiko only God, for all the believers out there!”

KJ Spio Bio

Acclaimed culturepreneur KJ Spio is a one-man mood enhancer – a musical multi-hyphenate devoted to upping the ambiance of whatever social situation you might find yourself in. “I’m all about creating a vibe that helps people have fun and enjoy themselves, whether they’re at a party or somewhere more intimate,” smiles the Ghana-born artist.

“Wait,” you might be wondering: “what’s a culturepreneur”? For Spio, the term reflects the ever-changing role he’s held down in the UK and African music industries for almost a decade now, pushing the culture forward in whatever new and exciting ways he can dream up. Sometimes, that has meant managing artists like late great British talent Cadet, whose single ‘Advice’ he helped become a platinum smash independently with over 250m streams. Other times, that has meant creative-directing and A&R for superstars like Ghanian icon Sarkodie, whose first ever virtual concert, performing at the country’s historic Independence Square, broke records for live streams. Genre doesn’t matter – only authenticity. “If it’s not progressive to the collective culture, I don’t do it,” insists the hitmaker, who began his journey in the music industry as road manager-turned-content creator for UK rap hero Big Narstie and hasn’t stopped hustling for the music scene he adores since.

Oxlade Bio
Nigerian, Lagos based singer Oxlade real name Ikuforiji Abdulrahman Olaitan is currently one of the young new acts tagged to change the face of the Nigerian and African music industry. Studying History and international relations at the Lagos state University, (LASU) where he was known for his love for music. Music started at a very tender age for him instilling a passion which he never gave up on, a passion which was also evident at the Lagos State University (LASU) where he studied History. Describing his kind of music as Afro- fusion / AfroPop, with songs such as happiness, Ojoro, questionnaire, the hit song “Sing” and the widely accepted “Mamiwota “featuring BlaqBonez. Oxlade is fast becoming a force to reckon with in the industry, it is safe to say The Ox is here to stay.
