A $300,000 Aluminium Fabrication factory built by the Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, from his Share of MPs ex-gratia has been commissioned at Kpong, a suburb of the constituency.

The factory which is already in operation produces roofing sheets of various sizes according to the customer specifications and aluminum cooking utensils and pans of different shapes and sizes

Commissioning the factory Tuesday July 30,2019 the MP, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi said the project which is part of effort to address the unemployment situation in the constituency and also help stimulate the local economy is an appreciation to the constituents for giving him the node to represent them in Parliament since 2012.

“This is to say a thank you to the people of Lower Manya for their support. The People of Lower Manya entrusted the constituency into my hands and in 2012 with their support I went to Parliament and after four years I was given an ex-gratia and i decided to plug that money back to the constituency in a form of job creation that is the reason why I decided to do what I have done”.

He added “it almost cost 300,000 dollars. Currently it has created 50 direct Jobs and indirect jobs, expecting about 400. We have two sessions – production of roofing sheets and cooking utensils. When it comes to the cooking utensils alone they have more than 30 people employed because they have various sessions – those who do the moulding, those who do the polishing .We are also going to have contract workers especially when the orders are huge”.

According to the MP, he has plans of establishing other factories which he is hopeful will also be a reality after 2020.

The National Chairman of the Opposition National Democratic Congress, Ofosu Ampofo, commended the MP for redefining politics which he says must inure to improving the living standards of the people .

He said the NDC as a Social Democratic Party has a philosophy of local economic development which the establishment of the Aluminum Fabrication Factory by the MP reinforces that philosophy.

He castigated the ruling government for re-branding private companies and naming it as one -district -one factory contrary to what the party promised Ghanaians.

He said the recent Mid-Year budget review read by the Finance Minister particularly on Talk Tax increment and the Energy Sector Levy is a manifestation of deceit by the government.

“NPP party is a party that came into power through deception and they are ruling through deception and they will lose through deception”.

Ofosu Ampofo finally described Krobos as faithful allies of the NDC.

He urged the constituents to treat the factory as their own and ensure that they also play their role to see to the sustenance of the factory.

Chairman for the occasion, Nene Okpatakpla Sasraku II described the project as the first of its kind on Kroboland and expressed his appreciation to the MP.
