President John Dramani Mahama has cut sod to officially launch the dualization of the Takoradi–Cape Coast highway, a flagship project under his government’s 24-Hour Economy and Reset Agenda.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony in Sahama, Western Region, President Mahama said the current single-lane road had long outlived its design, contributing to frequent accidents and fatalities.
He stressed that the dual carriageway would not only improve safety but also boost trade, attract investment, and create jobs along the western corridor.
The Cape Coast–Takoradi road, President Mahama said is a vital national artery and its dualization will enhance safety and foster regional economic integration.
The upgraded highway will feature multiple interchanges, bridges, footbridges, service roads, rest stops, and axle load stations, all aimed at improving traffic flow and overall road safety.
President Mahama described the project as a major milestone in modernizing Ghana’s western road network and strengthening connectivity across key economic centers.
