The lack of sufficient Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) at the Western Region’s biggest health facility, the Effia-Ntwanta Regional Hospital has been given a boost as Former President John  Mahama on Tuesday March 7th presented (PPE’s) to management of the hospital.

The presentation is aimed at motivating and supporting workers towards managing the COVID-19 disease ravaging nations globally.

The Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Kojo Toku, made the presentation on behalf of the former President, presented 650 PPE’s and 650 gumboots procured at a cost of twenty thousand dollars($ 20, 000) by Mr. Mahama, who is also the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for distribution to a number of medical facilities across the country.

Nana Kojo Toku thanked the country’s frontline health workers for their dedication, hard work and sacrifice as the nation grapples with the coronavirus.

He urged government to fastrack the procurement of the required safety materials for health workers in order not to put them at risk.

Other leading members of the NDC who accompanied their Chairman include Parliamentary candidate for Essikado Ketan Constituency and a member of the party’s COVID 19 team, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, Communications Officer, Richard Kirk-Mensah, Regional Organiser, Japheth Baidoo, Regional Secretary, Joseph Nelson among others.

The Medical Director for Effia-Nkwanta, Dr Joseph Kojo Tambil, who received the items on behalf of the Hospital, thanked President Mahama for the support, pledging that the hospital will put them to good use.
