Former GFA Chairman Alhaji MND Jawula is confident  Ghana will benefit hugely from the appointment of Nyantakyi as CAF’s first vice president.

Nyantyakyi’s appointment was approved by the CAF Executive committee on Monday during its first meeting under new president Ahmad Ahmad.

He is the first Ghanaian to occupy such position in African football adding to his FIFA executive committee position.

Alhaji MND Jawula insists Ghanaians should rally behind Nyantakyi for the nation to benefit from his new position at CAF.

“I am not surprise that it has come to pass but it is really good for Ghana.we should put our hands together and support Kwesi Nyantakyi so that we can benefit as a nation from his new role because if he’s working hard out there and we don’t respect him, his efforts will go waste. With his new role, many Ghanaians will get the chance to serve on CAF’s various committees “he told Starr Sports

“There is a saying that when your mother is at the funeral, you never go hungry so that is our chance”he added.

In other appointments,  DR Congo FA President , Omari Constant Selemani, was named as the 2nd Vice President.

Whiles Nigerian Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick was named President of the Organising committee of the African cup of nations while  South African Football Association boss President, Dr. Danny Jordaan was named chairman of the Marketing and TV Committee.

Sierra Leone FA boss, Isha Johansen, The only female FA boss has been tasked with the responsibility of heading the Women’s Football Committee.

President of Uganda FA, Moses Magogo was co-opted into the CAF Executive Committee for 2017-2021 cycle.

In a poll for the remaining African member of the FIFA Council, Hani Abo Rida of Egypt defeated former Cameroonian FIFA Development Officer Zelkifli Ngoufonja by 50 votes to 4.
