Sani Group CEO advocates honesty and adaptability for business survival

Chief Executive Officer of Sani Group, a conglomerate spanning various industries including oil, aviation, real estate, and hospitality, Lord Ibrahim Sani has urged businesses to embrace honesty in their dealings.

Speaking to the media, Lord Sani emphasized the critical importance of honesty and adaptability especially for businesses navigating turbulent times.

“In today’s fast-paced business environment, honesty and adaptability are non-negotiable factors for success,” remarked Lord Ibrahim Sani. “Without these qualities, even the most promising ventures can find themselves on shaky ground.”

Sani further stressed the significance of transparency within all aspects of business operations, from dealings with suppliers to interactions with customers.

He lamented, “There’s got to be a very straight-up honesty within everyone—suppliers, manufacturers, customer base, everyone involved, if you don’t have it, you just don’t have it”.

Reflecting on the current economic landscape, Sani acknowledged the challenges faced by businesses, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. “A lot of companies are in a position where they’re floating—they want to survive but lack the necessary support,” he lamented. “Here in Ghana, you’re on your own as a businessman. It’s survival of the fittest.”

However, Sani remained optimistic about the future of businesses, outlining key strategies for long-term sustainability. He also advised that cutting costs, planning ahead, and strategic employment are essential. “But beyond that, differentiation is crucial.”

Highlighting the importance of emotional connection with customers, Sani emphasized the need for businesses to respond to people’s emotions. He explained that people will always buy with emotion rather than just what you have to offer. “By responding to people’s emotions, you’re already ahead.”

In addition to honesty and adaptability, Sani underscored the significance of education and innovation in driving business growth. “There needs to be a lot more education, especially in emerging business models like Airbnb,” he noted. “It’s not just about owning assets; it’s about providing services and creating connections.”

As businesses navigate uncertainty, Lord Ibrahim Sani’s insights serve as a beacon of guidance, reminding entrepreneurs of the timeless principles that underpin sustainable success in any industry.
