The University of Ghana volleyball team hosted Osu Youth in a high-energy GAVA League Matchweek 12 clash on May 24, 2025, that ended in a straight-set victory for the home team.
The clash, covered by GHOne TV, drew a lively crowd and highlighted UG’s impressive form on the court.
The University of Ghana volleyball team demonstrated their strength and teamwork in a match that saw them dominate Osu Youth with scores of 24-22, 25-21, and 24-16 respectively.
In the second set, Osu Youth started off strong, maintaining the lead for most of the round. But UG responded with a fierce comeback, shifting the momentum through a combination of powerful serves and smart, strategic play to claim the set 25-21. Riding that wave of energy, UG carried their dominance into the third set, showcasing exceptional coordination and control to seal the win convincingly.
Coach Henry of UG expressed delight in his team’s performance, saying the team is back to form now that school has resumed and has made a strong statement to the other teams in the league. He also stated that the team’s performance was solid, and he looks forward to continuing their winning ways in the coming matches and moving up the league table.
On the other side, Osu Youth coach Jacob Nii Addoo Tagoe acknowledged the tough competition and praised his players for their fighting spirit. “It was a challenging match, but we’ll regroup and come back stronger,” he commented.
Following the match, UG climbed to 8th place on the league table, while Osu Youth dropped to 14th.
This result serves as a morale booster for the UG team as they prepare for their next league games and future tournaments.
