The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to establish a museum and archive centre dedicated to preserving the party’s history, documents, and political heritage.
Speaking at the June 19 commemoration event in Accra, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah described the initiative as part of a broader vision to institutionalize the party’s legacy and offer future generations a deeper understanding of its role in Ghana’s democratic development.
“My faith in establishing a party museum has been renewed,” he said. “Listening to the stories shared today, it becomes clear that they must be documented urgently—before the eyewitnesses pass on. These narratives are rich with lessons, and preserving them ensures that we can continue to learn from our past.”

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah explained that the concept of a party museum was first mooted during the June 4 anniversary, which aligns with the party’s revolutionary origins.
“The goal is to archive all records of the party—from before its official formation on June 4 to the present day. This museum will play a vital role in educating and grooming younger cadres. After all, we will not be here forever. It is our responsibility to pass on these experiences and insights to the next generation,” he said.

The proposed museum is expected to function as a hub for historical research, political education, and the celebration of the NDC’s contributions to Ghana’s political evolution.
