The Electoral Commission (EC) has responded to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the corrected Provisional Voters Register (PVR) will be exhibited online before the final register is printed for the impending 2024 Elections.
This comes on the back of the demonstration dubbed ‘Enough is Enough’ protest to get the nation’s electoral governing body to get experts to audit Ghana’s voter register happened in all sixteen regions in Ghana on Tuesday, 17th September 2024 with thousands of Ghanaians participating.
The leadership of the party led by Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia presented a petition to the Electoral Commission at the end of the exercise.
The NDC had to rewrite to the EC again demanding why they have not yet responded to their petition.
“This follow-up letter has become necessary due to the fact that, the Commission has not had the courtesy to reply our petition till date,” the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Kwetey stated. “Neither has the Commission officially responded to the serious issues we have raised in the petition and the request for a forensic audit thereof.”
In a quick response to the NDC and signed by the Chairperson of the EC, Jean Adukwei Mensah disclosed that the Commission has plans to implement an online exhibition again for registered voters.
“The Commission intends to implement an Online Exhibition of the PVR at no cost to Registered Voters. Voters will be able to report on anomalies with their details within a time frame to be made available to the Public. The Voters Register will be displayed Online until the Election Day”, she stated in her response to the NDC
According to her, all discrepancies with the Provisional Voters Register have been rectified
“The Commission takes this opportunity to assure the NDC and the General Public that it has largely resolved all the discrepancies identified in the PVR.
“The Commission achieved this in 2020 and will do it again in 2024.”
