The Infirmary of the Koforidua Prisons has run out of drugs .
The paucity of essential medical supplies and drugs at the infirmary is affecting the delivery of basic health care services to the inmates.
This was made known when the Medical Team of Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC) -Koforidua, visited the Prison to provide health screening services to the inmates on Saturday March 7,2020 as part of its corporate social responsibility to the underprivileged in society done early part of every year.
The medical team donated drugs left after the exercise to stock the infirmary.
“They said they didn’t have any medicine in the infirmary so we left every other medicine that we came with,” Elder Frederick Darfuor, a Pharmacist and Presiding Elder of PIWC -Koforidua who led the medical team said the situation is worrying given that most of the inmates reported cases of various skin infections.
He said congestion at the Prison is a serious health concern which needs to be addressed.
“Skin infection was the major disease we saw.There were others with hypertension majority of them were older folk. Recently when the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost came out with this idea of putting up prisons facilities for our country some people criticized that, but they should know that persons in prisons deserves some level of life”.
The Medical Team prayed and shared the Word of God with the inmates, encouraged them not to give up but continue to trust in the Lord.
The inmate were fed sumptuously courtesy a philanthropist who partnered the medical team.
