Kwabeng Anglican Senior High Technical School (KASTS) launched its 40th anniversary commemoration with a focus on advancing science and technical education.

The theme, “40 years of quality science and technical education at KASTS, strengthening stakeholder roles,” echoes the school’s commitment to academic excellence.

At the launch, Headmistress Mrs. Elfreda Cecilia Adu Poku reflected on the school’s evolution since its establishment in 1983 by the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church.

The transition in 1994 to a government-owned public secondary technical school marked a dedication to academic excellence and character development.

She said from its modest start with 17 students, KASTS has grown to accommodate over 1,500 students presently.

Mrs. Adu Poku said despite offering science courses, the school has no science laboratory therefore operates in a makeshift science laboratory in a classroom.

She appealed for the construction of a modern science laboratory to enhance science education.

The headmistress also called for the provision of an administration block, and health facility (Sick bay ) to provide healthcare services to students.

She encouraged all old students across the globe to participate in activities scheduled for the anniversary commemoration.

Speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Atewa West, District Chief Executive (DCE) Seth Asante acknowledged government’s contributions to infrastructural expansion in the school and assured swift action to address the school’s needs.

He encouraged collaboration with NGOs and organizations to complement government efforts, particularly in the implementation of the Free Senior High School Policy.

Chief of Muoso, Barima Dr. Owusu Beyeeman, who chaired the ceremony, praised the school’s academic achievements and promised to construct a sick bay to offer healthcare services to the students.
