The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt after a gunman opened fire and injured seven people during a fire outbreak at Ritz Junction in Madina on Saturday, August 3, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 4, the Accra Regional Police Command confirmed that the shooting occurred amid efforts by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to contain a blaze that had engulfed a washing bay, destroying over 50 wooden structures and containers.
The chaos intensified when the unidentified gunman began shooting into the crowd.
“Preliminary information indicates that during the outbreak, there was a shooting incident that resulted in injury to seven people amidst the chaos.”
Meanwhile, all seven victims are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been made yet.
Police say visibility has been increased in the area to maintain calm and prevent further incidents. They are urging the public to volunteer credible information to aid investigations.
The statement also warned against exploiting emergencies to commit crimes, stressing that perpetrators will be dealt with according to the law.
