Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, honoured the memory of the eight public servants who perished in last week’s military helicopter crash by laying a wreath at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House.
She was joined by her son, Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings, and her Special Aide and Administrative Manager, Mildred Annan Bentil, in the solemn act of remembrance.
The gesture follows Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings’ earlier message of condolence to the bereaved families, the government, and the people of Ghana after the tragic incident.
“Their loss is a sad one for the entire country and indeed the international community, many of whom may have interfaced with some of the departed,” she said in her statement last week.
She also extended her sympathies to the officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces, acknowledging the deep pain of losing colleagues who were on duty “for God and country.”
The helicopter crash, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Ashanti Region’s Adansi Akrofuom District, claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Deputy NADMO Director-General Samuel Aboagye, and three Air Force personnel: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The wreath-laying forms part of the ongoing days of national mourning declared by President John Dramani Mahama, which includes candlelight ceremonies, public tributes, and memorial events leading up to the state funeral, scheduled for August 15 at Black Star Square.
