Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Sammi Awuku, has appealed to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to uphold decency and respect as the party prepares for its 2026 presidential primaries.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the former National Organizer cautioned party faithful against insults, acrimony, and antagonism in their campaign activities, stressing that the NPP’s unity and long-term success should not be compromised.
Let the campaign be civil and decent. Let’s extol the values and virtues of our preferred candidate and let the campaign be devoid of acrimony, antagonism and insults for the sake of the NPP’s future,” Awuku wrote.
He noted that positive campaigning will not only strengthen the image of the NPP but also position the party as a more formidable force heading into the 2028 general elections.
Awuku expressed confidence in the party’s electoral chances while invoking divine intervention: “May the NPP God guide us all to victory in 2028. For this and many more I pray.”
The party’s Presidential Elections Committee has already cleared five aspirants to contest the flagbearership race—Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Ken Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
The upcoming primaries are expected to be one of the most competitive internal contests in recent NPP history.
