Claim: “The ‘Nkoko nketenkete’ programme has been launched twice”

Verdict: False

Explanation

The former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, claimed that the Nkoko Nketenkete programme had been launched before, suggesting that the event held in Kumasi on November 12, 2025, was the second launch of the same initiative.

Speaking on GHOne TV’s Breaskfast Review show hosted by Serwaa Amihere on November 13, 2025, he argued that the government had previously launched the project under the Feed Ghana Programme, and therefore questioned the need for what he called “a second launch.”

“Serwaa, yesterday the president went to Kumasi to relaunch nkoko nketenkete, I’m saying relaunch because this is the second time I’ve seen the government launch the programme.” He said. “Just google it”, he added.

EIB fact-check desk reviewed available documents, news archives, and official government releases to verify this claim.

Our checks show that the Nkoko Nketenkete initiative, which is aimed at supporting youth in poultry and livestock farming was officially launched by President John Dramani Mahama at a national ceremony in Kumasi on November 12, 2025. The event was widely covered by credible outlets including MyJoyOnline and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture’s own channels.

An earlier activity mentioned in June 2025, which some online blogs specifically GhanaWeb described as a “launch,” was in fact a roadmap presentation or policy briefing. It outlined how the initiative would be implemented under the broader Feed Ghana Programme. “The Government of Ghana has launched a national roadmap for the ‘Nkoko Nketenkete’ initiative, a major youth-focused poultry and livestock development programme under the Feed Ghana flagship policy.” GhanaWeb captured.

However, no record shows that the government formally launched the Nkoko Nketenkete programme at the national level before November. Neither the Ministry of Food and Agriculture nor the Presidency lists any earlier event as an official launch.

Based on the evidence and facts available, the earlier engagement was a planning or roadmap session, not a full-scale national launch.

Concerned farmers slam MoFA over being sidelined during ‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti’ launch

Thus, the claim that the Nkoko Nketenkete programme has been launched twice is false.
