Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, says he does not foresee Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia winning the upcoming elections, arguing that the core voter dynamics in Ghana have not shifted enough to favour the NPP candidate.
Speaking on The Verdict, hosted by Isaac Addae on Starr 103.5 FM on Tuesday, November 2, 2025, Dr. Boakye-Danquah said Ghana’s political landscape remains rooted in longstanding patterns that cannot be overturned within a single election cycle.
“I don’t think Bawumia will win the elections. The variables are still the same and the Ghanaian people haven’t changed. You do not expect Ghanaians to change in four years,” he stated.
He stressed that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) remains a major force preparing aggressively to recapture power, making the contest even more complex for the NPP.
“Remember the NDC is also preparing and will also want to I look at the variables and those variables haven’t changed,” he noted.
Dr. Boakye-Danquah added that the NPP’s decision-making regarding its flagbearer was based on strategic considerations, including the need to appeal to broader demographics but the underlying electoral behavior still poses significant challenges.
