A court judgment has brought finality to a family dispute over the properties and burial arrangements of the late Nana Barima Kofi Adjei Twinin, paving the way for his final burial and funeral rites after five years of his death.
The former National President of the Ghana Hotels Association and Chief Executive Officer of Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel died in 2021 after a short illness, but disagreements among family members over his properties and burial delayed his final rites.
Family sources say the dispute has now been brought to a close following the court judgment, allowing preparations for the burial to proceed.
The final burial and funeral ceremonies are scheduled for November 27 to 29, 2026, at Akyem Kwabeng in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region.
Nana Barima Adjei Twinin was the Dwantoahene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area and Akyempemhene of Akyem Kwabeng, his hometown.
He was also a prominent figure in Ghana’s hospitality industry through his leadership of Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel and his service as National President of the Ghana Hotels Association.
The three-day funeral is expected to bring together traditional authorities, family members, friends, associates in the hospitality industry and sympathisers to pay their final respects.
The family has begun distributing invitation letters ahead of the ceremonies.
