Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, Renowned Journalist and Deputy CEO of Marketing and Special Duties at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has called for increased visibility for private event organisers who lack the resources for wide promotion.
Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, November 6, 2025, Abeiku Santana emphasised that while the GTA promotes major events during the festive season, many private organisers do not have the budget to advertise their activities extensively.
“It is the most important thing now… the events that people, the private sector, have invested their money in, that we are supposed to give them the opportunity. They might not have the budget to come to every radio station,” he said.
He explained that platforms such as Starr Showbiz offer a means for these events to receive the exposure they need. As marketing head for the GTA, he and his department ensure that every activity recorded under the December in GH initiative receives a fair share of promotion.
Abeiku Santana revealed that the GTA has registered over 300 events nationwide for the December festive season and highlighted that promoting these events helps attendees plan their activities and encourages patronage of local businesses.
He further noted that providing visibility for private organisers supports the broader creative economy, allowing food vendors, fashion sellers, and other small businesses around event locations to benefit financially.

“This opportunity that you’ve given to us, I will crave with your indulgence once again, to highlight some of these events,” he added.
The GTA’s efforts aim to ensure that both large-scale and community-based events during December in Ghana receive adequate attention, boosting tourism engagement and supporting local economic activity.
