Popular Ghanaian kids’ podcast show Best Girlfriends has officially unveiled rising child influencer Simply Mary as the newest co-host for its upcoming second season.
She replaces Elaine, who has become unavailable for the show, and joins the existing trio, Viphine, Kelly, and Babette, following an online search for a fourth Bestie.
The announcement marks a major development for the show, which is entering a second season that is currently in production under Ghanaian creative house Egli Studios.
Producers confirmed that cast adjustments were necessary because one of the original hosts, Elaine, was unavailable and could not immediately resume filming the show.
To fill the vacancy, the production team launched a public call inviting children to submit videos explaining why they wanted to be the next “Bestie”
The open entry call generated dozens of submissions across social media, showcasing young girls’ creativity, confidence, humor, and passion for candid conversations.
After reviewing online entries, a shortlist of contestants was invited for an in-person audition.
In a fun twist, the judging panel featured the three existing Besties themselves, Viphine, Kelly, and Babette, giving them the unique responsibility of selecting their new bestie and on-screen sister.
According to producers, Simply Mary impressed the judges with her strong presence, expressive communication, and natural chemistry with the cast.
Creative Director Aggor Yorm described the selection process as “inspiring,” noting that young girls across Ghana are increasingly stepping forward to express interest in media, storytelling, and digital creativity.

She added that Simply Mary’s arrival signals “a refreshing new era for Season 2,” which promises more humor, girl-centered conversations, confidence-building content, and improved production quality.
The new season of Best Girlfriends is expected to air soon, with fans anticipating a revamped mix of entertaining discussions, lifestyle segments, games, and young-girl empowerment themes.
The show continues to position itself as Ghana’s most influential platform for young girls, blending entertainment with relatable childhood experiences and positive role-modeling
