The Ghana Police Service has arrested six private security guards in connection with a shooting incident that left former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo injured at a residence in Kwabenya on Sunday, 21 June 2026.
According to a police press release issued on Monday, the arrests followed a distress call received by personnel from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate, who were on special duty.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered that a private ceremony was underway at the residence of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, also known as Akofena.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that Hon. Adwoa Safo arrived at the premises and requested entry but was denied access. Armed security personnel at the residence allegedly discharged firearms during the confrontation, resulting in injuries to the lawmaker. A subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of five pump-action guns, one Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine containing five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication equipment.
The six suspects and all recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Accra to assist with ongoing investigations. Police say efforts are underway to locate and apprehend any other individuals connected to the incident.
