The Ghana Education Service (GES) has expressed condolences to the families of four pupils who died in a road accident at Aboabo Extension Junction in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The accident, which occurred on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, also left three other pupils injured, according to a statement issued by the GES on Thursday, October 22.

The deceased pupils have been identified as Juraid Mohammed, Anisah Ibrahim, Fati Muniru and Raiyan Faisal. They were all pupils of Mahad Islamic School at Akotosu.

In the statement signed by its Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the GES said the incident was a painful loss not only to the bereaved families and the school but also to the wider education community and the nation.

Management extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased pupils, the school’s management and staff, and the entire school community as they mourn their loss.

The Service also expressed concern for the three pupils who sustained injuries in the accident, wishing them a speedy and full recovery.

GES appeals for road safety

Following the incident, the GES appealed to motorists and other road users to prioritise the safety of schoolchildren at all times.

The Service emphasised the need to protect vulnerable pupils on the roads as the affected families and school community come to terms with the tragedy.
