The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the registration deadlines and fixture schedule for the preliminary stage of the 2025/26 Interclub competitions.
CAF has set the registration window for clubs from August 1 to August 31, 2025, for the 2025/26 Interclub competitions. Each participating team will be allowed to register up to 40 players. Matches will feature 11 starting players, with nine substitutes and nine officials permitted on the bench.
In accordance with the latest CAF regulations, teams can make up to five substitutions per match.
Due to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) scheduled for August, the start of the season has been pushed to September. As a result, the club engagement deadline has been extended to July 31, 2025 one month later than the traditional June 30 cut-off.
The first legs of the preliminary round are scheduled across two weekends—September 19–21 and September 26–28, 2025. A second registration period will be open from September 1 to 30, followed by a final window for group and knockout stage registrations from October 1 to 31.
CAF has reaffirmed that the Confederation Cup will no longer feature a second preliminary round. Clubs eliminated from the Champions League at this stage will not transition into the Confederation Cup, marking a significant change in the competition format.
Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani Gold Stars and FA Cup winners Asante Kotoko will be officially registered for the CAF Interclub competitions through the Confederation’s Competitions Management System by the Ghana Football Association, in accordance with tournament regulations.
