The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has embarked on a strategic tour of selected technology companies on Monday, April 28, 2025, as part of efforts to foster innovation, assess industry needs, and promote digital inclusion across Ghana.

The weeklong working visit aims to deepen collaboration between the government and the tech industry and inform policy direction to support the country’s digital transformation agenda.

The Minister’s visit, the first of its kind by any Communications Minister, saw him tour the modest offices of tech companies in agriculture, pharmacy, among others.

At Complete Farmer, an agricultural technology company, Sam George explored smart farming solutions and sustainable practices being deployed to improve productivity and food security. He stressed the need to develop farming materials in local languages to enhance accessibility for farmers and announced plans to partner with the company to help farmers increase profitability.

During a stop at mPharma, a leading healthcare technology firm, the Minister pledged to facilitate strategic partnerships between the company, the Ministry of Health, and his own Ministry to help mPharma scale its operations and increase impact nationwide.

At the IT Consortium, he engaged with industry experts on emerging digital solutions and cutting-edge technologies. The visit reinforced the importance of IT in powering economic growth and job creation.

The Minister’s visit to Apps Mobile, a mobile application development company, also highlighted the transformative power of mobile technology across sectors. He reiterated the Ministry’s expanded mandate to include innovation and pledged his readiness to support the growth of startups in the digital space.

Speaking to the media at the end of his tour, Sam George lauded the companies for their contributions to national development through innovation and technology.

“As a government, we’re committed to supporting their efforts and providing resources to help them thrive. Today’s visits have given us valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in these sectors. We’ll work closely with these institutions to address their needs and create an enabling environment for growth and development. Together, we can build a brighter future for our country.”
