The Ghana National Gas Company Limited says it is set to restore full operations after a brief shutdown of its gas processing plant caused by a technical fault in a critical control system.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey on Monday, April 20, the Head of Corporate Affairs, Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, explained the cause of the disruption and the steps taken to resolve it.
“On the 14th of April about 10 a.m, the burner management system, which is the controller for the heat medium system of the actual gas processing plant, failed to operate,” he said.
He indicated that the failure of the system made a shutdown unavoidable to safeguard operations.
“In simple terms, it developed a fault which necessitated a shutdown of the plant,” he added.
According to him, engineers swiftly replaced the damaged component and completed installation works to restore the facility.
“As we speak we are done with the installation… and we are starting the next few minutes to start to receive gas,” he stated.
