The Minister for Communications and Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has cautioned Ghanaians against engaging the services of intermediaries, popularly known as “Goro Boys”, for passport applications.
He made these remarks during a press briefing on July 3, 2025, where he discussed the performance of the Ministry to date.
According to him, using Goro Boys remains one of the major factors contributing to challenges in the passport delivery process. He explained that these intermediaries often use their own contact details and addresses when applying on behalf of clients, making it difficult for Ghana Post to deliver passports to their rightful owners.
“When you use a Goro Boy and his number is what we call, and we get to deliver, and it is a Goro Boy, we will not hand over the passport to a third party. Those passports are returned. And the same people now go online and complain that their passports are not being delivered,” he said.
He emphasised that applying for a passport through Goro Boys is a criminal offence and urged the public to desist from such acts to ensure a smooth and efficient delivery process.
