A Member of the defence and Interior Committee of Parliament and MP for Ashaiman in the Greater Accra region Ernest Norgbey has chastised CID boss Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah over her latest reaction to calls for her resignation.
There have been mounting calls for the CID chief to resign following her claim that the police is aware of the whereabouts of the Takoradi missing girls – but has so far failed to produce them.
She has however told the media her resignation will not solve the mystery surrounding the missing girls.
“My position is not a position that I applied for. ….I don’t need to resign. Resigning is like resigning from the Ghana Police service, and the position is not something I applied for. When the time comes for me to be transferred, I will be transferred.
“When you have everybody calling for your resignation, you ask yourself, is that the one that will solve the problem. There’s a problem for us to solve and that is my focus. I want to bring whatever situation that we have at a very conclusive stage not to waste your time thinking you want to resign or not,” she said at the maiden Commonwealth Speaker Forum held in Accra Wednesday.
Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Thursday, the MP said ” her comments are very unfortunate, and as CID boss sometimes she talks like a civilian or an ordinary person and that’s not good enough”.
“The statement from the intelligent officer, Madam Tiwaa is rather unfortunate. Her timing is always wrong. Many are calling for her resignation. Instead of showing remorse she is rather saying too much. It is the duty of the CID Boss to remain quiet and mute and not to show insensitivity at this time,” he said.
