Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has expressed strong confidence in the Black Stars’ chances of securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After a disappointing 2024 campaign that saw the senior national team win just two out of ten matches, the Black Stars started 2025 on a high, breaking their six-game winless streak with consecutive victories over Chad and Madagascar in March during Matchdays 5 and 6 of the World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Stars delivered a commanding performance with a 5-0 thrashing of Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by a solid 3-0 victory over Madagascar in Morocco.
The victories have boosted the four-time African champions’ prospects of qualifying for next year’s World Cup, as they now lead Group I with 15 points.
In an exclusive interview With Monica Bukari, Mr. Okraku says he’s confident that the Black Stars will secure qualification for the tournament, set to take place in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

“I have absolute belief that Black Stars will fight for qualification to the 2026 World Cup,” he told GHOne TV.
As part of their preparations for Matchdays 7 and 8 of the qualifiers, the Black Stars will take part in a four-nation tournament in London ahead of their September clashes with Chad and Mali.
