Global InfoAnalytics says 45% of NPP delegates believe presenting a second-chance candidate will improve the party’s chances of winning the 2028 elections.

New polling data from Global InfoAnalytics shows that a significant proportion of New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates believe presenting a presidential candidate for a second time would enhance the party’s chances in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey on Monday, January 26, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, said 45 percent of delegates support the idea.

“When we started, the number was quite high, around 52 percent,” he said. “That number is now 45 percent.”

According to Mr. Dankwah, only 23 percent of delegates disagree with the notion that a second-chance candidate improves the party’s electoral prospects.

“Only 23 percent disagree,” he noted. “So on that score, almost two to one.”

Among delegates who support presenting a candidate for a second time, voting preferences strongly favour former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Eighty-five percent of them are voting for Bawumia,” Mr. Dankwah said. “Three percent are voting for Brian, and five percent are voting for Kennedy.”

He explained that the data offers important insight into the mindset of delegates ahead of the party’s presidential primary.

“It tells you where the delegates’ minds are,” he said. “With regard to who they believe gives them a better chance.”

The New Patriotic Party has scheduled its presidential primaries for January 31, 2026, following approval by the National Executive Committee and National Council, a move intended to allow adequate time for campaigning and internal coordination ahead of the 2028 general elections.

All aspirants have since signed a peace pact, committing themselves to unity and mutual respect as the party prepares to select its flagbearer.
