The Government of Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Legislative Council of Nebraska State in the United States as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s agricultural sector and boost local livestock and dairy production.
The agreement was signed by the Minister for Food and Agriculture on behalf of the Government of Ghana.
Nebraska, recognised as one of the world’s leading producers in livestock production, is expected to support Ghana through strategic collaboration aimed at transforming the country’s agriculture sector.
As part of the partnership, plans are underway to establish a dairy processing plant and a meat processing plant in Ghana.
The initiative is expected to help reduce Ghana’s heavy dependence on imported dairy products, with the country currently importing about 90 per cent of its dairy needs.

Government says the partnership will contribute to increasing local production, creating jobs, strengthening food security and supporting economic growth.
The agreement also forms part of broader efforts under the government’s “Feed Ghana Agenda,” which seeks to improve agricultural productivity and promote value addition within the sector.
