The Office of the President has issued a firm reminder to all ministers, deputy ministers, chief executives, board members and other political appointees that President John Dramani Mahama will not tolerate conduct that undermines governmental cohesion, institutional authority or the effective implementation of policy.
In a notice dated 2 September 2026 and signed by Dr Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, the Presidency stressed the President’s “firm resolve to maintain discipline, accountability and effective leadership across all sectors of Government.”
The statement linked recent ministerial changes and the dissolution of selected boards to a broader effort to strengthen institutional leadership, enhance coordination, and ensure every appointee remains fully aligned with the Government’s policies and priorities.
The statement also confirmed an “impending reshuffle of Chief Executives.”
“The President expects all Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Chief Executives, Board members and other political appointees to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, diligence, humility and respect for established administrative procedures,” the notice stated.
“Conduct that undermines governmental cohesion, institutional authority or the effective implementation of Government policy will not be tolerated.”
Dr. Mahama reminded appointees that public office is “a privilege and an opportunity to serve the Ghanaian people.”
He added that performance across all sectors will continue to be assessed and that the President “will take any further action necessary to safeguard the integrity, effectiveness, and responsiveness of his Administration.”
The notice comes on the back of a notice announced immediate dissolution of the governing boards of nine state institutions, including the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), Consolidated Bank Ghana, Ghana Post, the Road Maintenance Trust Fund, TDC Ghana Limited, Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited and the National Sports Authority.
Sector ministers have been directed to give effect to the dissolutions, with the boards to be reconstituted in due course.
In the interim, management teams are barred from taking major policy, financial or contractual decisions requiring board approval without prior authorisation.
The latest moves follow earlier ministerial reassignments and form part of ongoing efforts to improve delivery of the administration’s mandate.
All appointees have been urged to cooperate and remain committed as the Government works to improve the lives of the Ghanaian people.
