Two persons have sustained injures in Bimbilla during a stamped after police and military fired warning shots to disperse a charged crowd.
The crowd who were members of the late Nakpa Naa’s family and had been served notice by the Nanumba North District Security council not to celebrate the Damba festival this year defied the directive and had gathered to celebrate it.
In an interview, the Municipal Chief executive of the area, Abdulai Yaqoub, said the essence of calling in the security was to ensure the order given was followed to maintain peace.
He said subsequent security enforcement had been put in place to ensure that, the right person celebrates the Damba peacefully.
He added that necessary preparations are under way for the legitimate regent, Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu Andani Dassana II to celebrate the festival.
Chiefs of the area, he added, are also prepared and are already converging for the celebration.
The DCE however noted that calm has returned to the area.
The two persons are currently receiving treatment at the Bimbilla government hospital.
