Ghana’s battle against Mpox has taken a worrying turn, with health officials confirming 10 new cases and one additional death, bringing the national tally to 565 infections and 2 deaths as of September 18, 2025.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), two patients are currently on admission, while contact tracing and surveillance efforts have been intensified nationwide.
Mpox, a viral disease that spreads mainly through close contact with infected individuals, presents with symptoms such as fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, and swollen lymph nodes.
In a public advisory, the GHS urged Ghanaians to stay vigilant.
“Mpox spreads mainly through close contact with someone who has the infection. Protect yourself and loved ones by practicing good hygiene and report to the nearest health facility when you experience symptoms like fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, or swollen lymph nodes.”
The Service has assured that emergency response systems remain in place to manage current cases and prevent further transmission, while reminding the public to prioritize early reporting and strict hygiene practices.
