Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has taken a swipe at the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing its much-touted 120-day social contract as lacking depth and strategic direction.
In a sharp critique, Afenyo-Markin claimed the initiative, championed by the Mahama administration, was crafted primarily for electoral gain rather than grounded in realistic, actionable policies.
“This 120-day contract is nothing more than political showmanship. It is a bitter pill for Ghanaians and a desperate attempt to win votes in 2024 without a solid execution plan,” he said.
The minority leader further accused the NDC government of reacting to crises instead of implementing a forward-looking development agenda. He challenged the administration to provide tangible results from the contract period, arguing that the public has seen more rhetoric than results.
The minority leader also expressed disappointment over what he described as the government’s inertia in tackling illegal mining, a pressing national concern. “Their inaction on galamsey is disappointing. Ghanaians deserve better than empty promises and staged performances,” he added.
