The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that approval has been granted for the payment of outstanding salary arrears owed to newly recruited teachers across the country.
In a statement on Monday, April 20, the Service said the payments relate to arrears arising from the utilisation of the 2024 financial clearance.
“Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform the general public, especially newly recruited teachers, that approval has been granted for the payment of outstanding salary arrears associated with the utilisation of the 2024 financial clearance,” the statement said.
According to GES, the approval-issued by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department-covers teachers whose arrears accrued between August 1, 2024, and November 2025.
The Service indicated that payments will be made in phases over a four-month period to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
“Management further announces that the payment of these arrears will be made in instalments,” the statement noted.
Under the outlined schedule, beneficiaries will receive four months’ arrears each month from May through August 2026.
GES said the staggered payments are designed to promote efficiency and accuracy in the disbursement process, while also ensuring transparency.
